Cape May during the winter season is a magical time, especially around Christmas. There are many activities happening this winter and one of them is the house tours. This year, Cape May MAC is hosting their 48th annual Christmas Candlelight House Tours. Antoinette’s Apartments and Suites is one of the houses guests can tour on December 18, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
This traditional tour began in 1973 and ever since it has been a highlight of the Christmas season in Cape May. For three nights in December, visitors can tour homes, inns, B&Bs, churches and hotels, stepping across the thresholds to take in interiors beautifully decorated for the holidays.
These tours are self-guided and maps are provided. Wristbands for ticket purchasers are provided in advance or at central locations at the start of the tour and must be presented at each participating location for entry. Advanced purchase is highly recommended for these limited walking tours. Masks are required in private properties and while on trolley shuttles.
There are so many wonderful sights to take in when you visit Antoinette’s. On your way into the inn, take in the sites of three handmade dollhouses on the Victorian porch. As you enter the interior, admire in the lobby the Lord’s Prayer that was hand crocheted by Antoinette at age 94 - winning her first blue ribbon! Also, enjoy the nine-foot Christmas tree put together with 100+ individual branches and hand-picked ornaments.
It’s a wonderful way to experience seeing the interiors of these historic properties and have fun at the same time! Happy touring and happy holidays.
